Hello Everyone! We are back home in our castle in Dschörmänie (Germany). This is where we reflect on those experiences we had last year and gradually recover from post travel depression. Also we are getting adjusted to GSM +1hour-time which is harder than you might think. Emotionally we are not quite here yet. We are back, but are we home? We are curious what will happen in the next couple of weeks. Until then. Auf Wiedersehen and Dankescheen.

I recently bought this Time-Zero OneStep Polaroid Land Camera that looks like this, without the flash though.
I like it a lot. I got the camera really cheap at a thrift store, basically because of the looks. I found out later on that it is really hard to get Polaroid films at a reasonable price. Basically because they stopped manufacturing it a while ago. In the US Walmart still sells it at an O.K. price, but it is still pretty costly. If anyone knows where to get it cheaper I’d be happy to hear about it. But it is fun to experiment and see the photograph develop in your hand. With only ten photos per pack you really want to choose your motives carefully. I like that.

Hello everyone. Wow, I sit down to give you an insight on what is going on over here at the moment. Well let me first define »over here« for you a little closer. »Over here« at the moment for us is Boise, Idaho. About 14 years ago I spent a whole 12 month with a real American family here, yes right here in Boise. We liked (and still do like) each other so much that I call them my American Family and they call me their German brother and son. That is cool. And with Marit I added a German/Japanese sister and daughter to the family. The family is growing. We enjoy it very much over here, despite the freezing cold. We went Snowboarding last Saturday, the first time in like two years or so?! We had a blast. It was good to flee from the depressing fog down in the valley, to go up and see and feel the sun, and catch up on some vitamin D.
This last sentence could also be read metaphorically. We have been pondering and thinking a lot lately, trying to come up with decisions and ideas for our post travel life. We are getting there but it is tough work. One thing we both do not want is to go back to our old lives. We have changed. Once you tasted the freedom and excitement of travelling, exploring, living out of just one suitcase not knowing where to lay your head to rest next night, just trusting, going, sometimes aimlessly but always moving - you are hooked!
What we both want to have in the future is some kind of homebase. A place to come back to, a place of our own. Mobility and flexibility is what we crave. Getting to know people and cultures, networking and mediating is who we are. How are we going to do this? I do not know yet, do you know? Traveling could definitely be a lifestyle, but you got to have a purpose a task something you can give in order to receive, well that’s what I think.
At this point I want to say thanks to all our hosts, to everyone who gave us a place to sleep, a meal to eat, or just time to share and hang out. I cannot thank you enough. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed reading these posts. Thanks to our families who supported us in any way possible, we love and miss you!
Share the dream of world peace everyone, I know we can make a difference… o.k. that is a little overblown. Let’s make it short: »cheers« !

I have not posted in ages, and to be honest, I do not know what to post other than that to let you know that we are still alive and kicking. We are in Seattle at the moment and are going up to Vancouver, Canada next Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday we are going to go back to Boise in Idaho. Seattle rocks, but bring an umbrella! At least during winter. Cheers to all who read this! I am outta here.
